Abstract

The diffraction of electromagnetic plane waves incident on a corrugated grating made of a uniaxial dielectric material is studied using a fully vectorial treatment based on a T-matrix approach and the Rayleigh hypothesis. The optic axis is considered parallel to the mean surface of the periodic interface. The theory is exemplified numerically for the case of sinusoidal gratings made of sodium nitrate.
