A composite resonator was desipned and fabricated by the use of a multilayer tape casting technique. A multilayer composite composed of Pb3MgNb2O9 and 0.8 Pb3MgNb2O9 + 0.2 PbTiO3 (chosen for their nearly compensating resonant temperature coefficients) was found to have improved temperature stability. Resonant frequency changes of <60 ppm/°C were found over a temperature range of - 10°C to 80°C.
