Abstract

IMPLICATIONS: We present a case of neuromuscular block of unusual duration in a patient with atypical pseudocholinesterase activity who was taking the acetylcholinesterase inhibitor donepezil and who received succinylcholine and neostigmine as a part of her general anesthesia. To determine the possible role of donepezil in the prolonged neuromuscular block encountered in our patient, we studied the in vitro effects of donepezil on pseudocholinesterase.
