Abstract

This paper presents a set of tests aimed at evaluating improvement and a set of performance metrics for vision-aided navigation systems. As vision-aided navigation systems become more prevalent and more widely used on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), performance metrics to compare different systems become more pertinent. These metrics are also important to help quantify improvements in systems during development and testing. This paper focuses on tests that are easily implementable and help evaluate the robustness of a vision-aided navigation system. Implementation is explained and demonstrations with an existing navigation system are shown.
