The experiences of Michael Berube while on travel as a guest speaker in different universities are discussed. According to him, the invited speakers rarely complain and vast majority of them feel that it is a privilege and a treat to be invited anywhere. He thinks that a good lecture and a good visit can have ripple effects that go on for months, sparking further exchanges among faculty members and students, creating a critical mass of people devoted to a subject and generally enhancing a campus's intellectual quality of life.
