Abstract

The fabrication and performance of dynamic focusing lens stack, optical scanner, and integrated scanner and lens devices created in a single ferroelectric chip of LiNbO 3 and LiTaO 3 were described. All scanners were fabricated in the same piece of electrooptic crystal. Each scanner in the stack has a separate electric field supply, in effect cascading the scanners. A beam propagation method (BPM) simulation of a tunable focusing lens stack has been developed. It was designed to focus a highly diverging beam input. A cascaded electrooptic scanner has been fabricated and tested. The scanners was designed to work in conjunction with a high-speed voltage supply with peak output voltage of 1.1 kV.
