Ultrasonic sieving of fine, dry powders

Abstract

Sieving efficiency is substantially enhanced by 20-kHz power ultrasound with simultaneous brushing. The extent of the enhancement varies with powder characteristics, ranging from a few to over 30-fold that of manual sieving. The enhancement in the sieving efficiency is attributed to the cleaning and deagglomeration effects of the power ultrasound, which minimize sieving blockage.
