Abstract

In this extract from the authors' recently published book Basic Physics in Diagnostic Ultrasound, the structure and function of the transducer are discussed, and principles such as resolution and penetration are reviewed. The section concludes with a brief historical discussion of transducer damping related to actual resolution.
